Exact and Xpirit
Enable the move to a Micro Services Architecture that is cloud vendor-independent
Exact is the leading business financial software provider in the Netherlands. Exact develops industry-specific, on-premise, hosted and cloud‐based solutions in a wide variety of industries. Ranging from manufacturing, wholesale & distribution to professional services and accountancy, Exact supports all major business processes such a production, logistics, finance & administration, HR, sales and marketing.
For their product line they faced the problems of a code base that had become outdated and with a change in the way their consumers used the product. They needed to make the move to the cloud.
Exact needed to harvest what they had in their current codebase and from there build a migration strategy to a new product architecture. One that is multi‐tenant & cloud based but not tied to a specific public cloud provider. While Exact is primarily a Microsoft shop, their customers needed the product they use to be available in the country of origin, because of legislation. This meant that a public cloud strategy alone would not suffice.
Xebia Xpirit provided support to the architecture team in their endeavor to move to a Micro Services Architecture that is cloud-vendor independent and has the ability to run on premises. It will run in the public cloud (Amazon, Azure, Rackspace, etc) and in their own datacenters. By providing architecture workshops, helping with proof of concepts and engaging them with Microsoft to get insights to new technology that supports their cloud agnostic requirement, Xpirit enabled Exact to make the move to a new cloud technology based architecture.
